Private Soccer Training in San Jose
Take your game further with personalized 1-on-1 soccer training in San Jose built around your ability, position and individual goals.
At ProEdge Soccer, we work with youth players, high school athletes and adults who want focused coaching beyond regular team practice.
Whether you want to improve your first touch, become more confident in 1v1 situations, sharpen your finishing, improve your weaker foot or make better decisions on the field, your training is designed around you.
Every player develops differently. That's why we don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to individual soccer training.
1-on-1 Soccer Training Built Around Your Game
Team training plays an important role in player development. It teaches players how to work within a team, understand tactical systems and perform alongside teammates.
But a team coach also has to divide attention across an entire squad.
Private soccer training gives us the opportunity to focus on the details of one player's game.
We can identify areas that need improvement, adjust exercises to the player's level and provide immediate feedback throughout the session.
Your training may focus on:
-
First touch and ball control
-
Dribbling and 1v1 ability
-
Passing and receiving
-
Weak-foot development
-
Shooting and finishing
-
Movement and body positioning
-
Speed, agility and coordination
-
Scanning and awareness
-
Decision-making
-
Position-specific development
-
Confidence on the ball
The goal isn't simply to complete more drills.
It's to help you understand how, when and why to use your skills in a game.
What Will You Work On in Private Soccer Training?
Every player arrives with different strengths, weaknesses and goals, so no two development plans need to look exactly the same.
First Touch & Ball Control
A strong first touch gives you more time to make your next decision.
We work on receiving with different surfaces of the foot, controlling the ball into space, body orientation and preparing the next action before the ball arrives.
Soccer Drills to Improve First Touch & Ball Control
Dribbling & 1v1 Skills
Players learn how to control the ball at different speeds, change direction effectively, protect possession and recognize opportunities to take on an opponent.
The focus isn't just learning moves. It's learning when to use them.
Passing & Receiving
Good passing starts before the ball reaches you.
Training can include receiving on the back foot, opening your body, passing with both feet, playing at different distances and improving the speed and accuracy of combinations.
Shooting & Finishing
Depending on the player's needs, sessions can work on striking technique, finishing with both feet, shooting after movement and creating a cleaner final action around goal.
Weak-Foot Development
Avoiding your weaker foot can limit your options during games.
We build repetitions into training that encourage players to receive, pass, dribble and strike the ball with both feet.
Soccer IQ & Decision-Making
Technical ability becomes much more valuable when a player can recognize what is happening around them.
We work on scanning, positioning, body shape, space, timing and decision-making so players learn to think before receiving the ball.
Confidence
Confidence isn't created by telling a player to "be confident."
It develops when players understand their game, improve their technique and repeatedly solve situations they previously found difficult.
Our coaching environment encourages players to make decisions, learn from mistakes and keep progressing.
How Our Private Soccer Training Works
Player Evaluation
We start by learning about the player.
That includes their experience, position, current level, strengths, areas they want to improve and their short- and long-term goals.
New players can start with our free 30-minute player evaluation.
2. Individual Development Focus
Based on what we observe and discuss with the player or parent, we identify the areas that deserve the most attention.
Instead of training everything at once, sessions can prioritize the skills that will have the greatest impact on that player's development.
3. Focused Coaching
Exercises are adjusted to the player's ability and progress.
Our coaches can stop, correct, demonstrate and change an exercise when necessary rather than waiting until the end of a team session to provide feedback.
4. Progression
As players become more comfortable with a technique, exercises can become quicker, more demanding and more game-specific.
The aim is to move from performing a skill in isolation toward using it effectively under realistic pressure.
Who Is Private Soccer Training For?
ProEdge Soccer works with players across different ages and levels.
Youth Soccer Players
For younger players, individual training can help establish strong technical foundations while developing confidence and enjoyment of the game.
Sessions can focus on ball mastery, first touch, coordination, passing, dribbling and learning to make simple decisions effectively.
Competitive & Club Players
Players already competing for clubs can use individual training to work on areas that receive less attention during team practice.
That might mean improving the weaker foot, sharpening first touch, developing position-specific movements or preparing for upcoming tryouts.
High School Players
As players progress, speed of play and decision-making become increasingly important.
Training can become more position-specific and focus on the technical details needed to perform effectively at a higher tempo.
Adult Soccer Players
Private coaching isn't only for youth players.
Adult players who want to improve their technique, fitness with the ball or overall confidence can also train with ProEdge Soccer.
Private Soccer Training vs Team Practice
Private training isn't intended to replace playing for a team.
The two forms of training serve different purposes.
Team practice gives players the opportunity to learn systems, communicate with teammates, understand tactical responsibilities and experience realistic game situations.
Individual coaching allows us to spend concentrated time on one player's technique and development needs.
For many players, the strongest approach is to use team practice for the team game and individual training for individual development.
The ProEdge Soccer Training Approach
Our approach to player development is built around three areas.
Technical Foundation
Players need to be comfortable with the ball.
We work on first touch, passing, receiving, dribbling, ball striking, balance and movement so players can execute skills more consistently.
Game Intelligence
Soccer isn't simply about what you can do with the ball.
Players also need to recognize space, scan their surroundings, understand angles, anticipate what happens next and make good decisions.
We introduce these concepts throughout training rather than treating technique and decision-making as completely separate skills.
Confidence & Character
Development takes repetition, patience and consistency.
Our aim is to create a positive but challenging coaching environment where players are comfortable making mistakes, receiving feedback and trying again.
